"Incredible"
As I was taking this photo of an old church in the middle of Kiev, Ukraine, Saturday, O-R staff writer Heidi Price moved into the frame, and it looks as if she was announcing for the 400th time: "This is incredible."
Kiev is a beautiful city, for sure, and even in the dead of winter. We were fortunate that our weekend visit was right in the middle of a heat wave that drove the temperature all the way up to the freezing point. We were able to take long walks and see views of Kiev from some of its seven hills.
As always, I am most grateful that our adventure was free of disaster, serious injury or international incident. And I'm grateful, too, that there is no doubt this trip is the beginning of a long exchange between our newspaper and our counterpart in Melitopol. Three journalists and two interpreters will be visiting us from May 14 to 28. It will be a great experience for them, I'm sure. We're also talking about the possibility of an exchange of young journalists - kids from Melitopol and kids from our own Flipside staff.
